gala-event-poster

The GALA Interactive Poster the final assignment for our Design Course. The purpose of the gala was to raise funds for Wings for Flight, a local bird sanctuary and rehabilitation facility for injured and orphaned birds.  This was one of the hardest projects to do because of the requirements. There was a lot of copy which we had to include in a poster. which is one of the hardest things to do without making it look jumbled and unattractive. Likewise, we had to put a big Event name an interactive button, and a QR code, we needed some tracings and two logos. A lot of info in a single poster.
For a single poster, we had to use Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop as well. This was the last assignment so we had to use all the information that we knew and studied till now. The first hurdle to jump over was to choose an attractive picture. I chose this eagle which is a strong bird but looked vulnerable in this picture. This was a perfect choice for this event. I edited the picture in Photoshop and exported it to be used in Indesign. I created some tracings of feathers and birds which I used in our event titled “Wings for Flight”. The hardest part was the copy I had to put all that information in a small place. I used different weights of the fonts to make the date pop out and put the information according to their hierarchy. The dark yellow color was taken from the beak of the bird to highlight the key points. The contact button and QR were easy because Indesign lets us do that inside it. I arranged the two and two logos at the bottom so that they are visible.
The semi-comp of this poster was submitted and our professor gave me some suggestions which I corrected at the final submission. Although it was not perfect I was happy with the final project, therefore I included this in my Portfolio.
